John Mikl Thor on Merv Griffin - "Action"

Mercury Theatre on the Air!
So, I was looking for the Mercury Theatre version of "Heart of Darkness" (reading Lucius Shepard's splendid novella "The Dog-Eared Paperback of My Life" put me in mind of it). Anyway, imagine my delight at finding an entire catalog of Orson Welles' radio dramas, all downloadable. Besides "Heart of Darkness" and "Dracula" there is a short conversation between Welles and Wells (Orson and H.G.!)
Rewarding indeed...

Designing a Society for a Generation Starship
Here's a fascinating conversation instigated by science fiction writer Charlie Stross.
The deal is: if you're going to put a large population into a generation ship for 500 years or so, what sort of government, social structure, etc. will insure that the colonists will reach the new planet with a minimum of strife? Lots and lots of great comments:

A really, really nice cartoon.
